Even the longest journey begins with a first step, but you have to know where you're headed. In the beginning, our objectives for the Pure Boarding project were crystal clear: Preserving the variability of hardboot snowboarding, generating maximum creativity regardless of conditions and equipment. And all that as laid-back as possible! To be sure, we could summon up the expertise of exceptional riders, many years of experience in training, and a lot of "Good Vibrations". Add to that Joerg Egli's stimulating optimism and his reputation in the scene. However, what we really had gotten ourselves into, namely trying to develop a technique and a training concept, of that, none of us really had a clue. It was like climbing a tempting but misty mountain peak. This is what we envisage for:
the Pure Boarding technique:
And it should be easy - or at least appear to be.
the Pure Boarding training concept:
the quest for the magic Pure Board:
had to stand back, due to the other projects.
A torsion-resistant board, slightly wider, laterally flexible bindings with flat angles in combination with hardboots, this had to suffice as equipment for the time being.
At the least, it was sufficient for high level and creative style-switching.
But the full realization of our "No Limits" goal would require equipment particularly suited for Pure Boarding.
And it would require another first step on another long road.
